About the GRE® General Test

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is an exam designed and administered by ETS (Educational Testing Service) which is required for admission to graduate programs and graduate business programs (MBA) globally. Candidates are assessed on three different skills namely: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing skills, and is conducted for 3 hours and 30 minutes with a break for 10 minutes after the second section. Students should take GRE Classes in Chennai to score well in their GRE test.

The test is conducted in two formats namely GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test. GRE General test is administered in both - Paper based and Computer based mode. What are the GRE Exam patterns and test frequency?

Verbal and Quantitative reasoning is done on a scale of 130 – 170 individually bringing the total score to 340 marks. The Analytical Writing section is rated on a scale of 0 – 6, however does not affect the overall score. Computer delivered tests can be taken to a maximum of five times a year, while the paper delivered test is only administered on specific dates during the year. The computer-based test has a duration of 3hours and 45 minutes, while the paper delivered test has a duration of 3hours and 30 minutes.

What skills are tested in GRE?

Verbal reasoning assesses your reading comprehension, critical reasoning as well as vocabulary usage, while the quantitative reasoning assesses your basic high school level of math knowledge, including reasoning skills. Analytical writing is designed to test your usage of grammar, lexical resource, writing skills and sentence structure.
